You may have heard of SQL Server and that it can be an incredibly useful tool, but what exactly is it and how can you utilise it?
This course provides a gentle introduction and will teach you the basics of formulating SQL statements that you can then use to directly query a database. Why is this useful? Well, your accounting data is stored in a database that you likely access via an application or a reporting site – you are only allowed to see what the application lets you. Any ad-hoc or customised queries have to go via IT and that may involve delays. The truth is, you can be empowered to do it on your own – and the more you know, the more powerful it can be.
Of course you will still need authority to access the database which we can help to obtain by advising you on how to retrieve the data in a safe and controlled manner, without the risk of loss or corruption.
Financial professionals who want to get further insight into the data available and go beyond what is shown in the reporting tool and application.
